Database Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA - HQ

Description:

This position will have ownership of MS SQL database infrastructure for the company: manage day-to-day operations of a high-performance enterprise cluster, provide analysis, guidance and leadership to improve and promote the best practices and operational scalability for the MS SQL cluster. This position will have ownership of our enterprise database engine while working together with the engineering and operations teams to make sure that the production systems are problems-free and operate with the needed efficiency, availability and robustness.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure rapid response and resolution of database service impacting problems, execution plans and performance bottlenecks
  • Work jointly and cooperatively with the development team to ensure DB modeling optimization needed for our applications, MS - SQL engine optimization, system load, scalability and capacity planning
  • Provide and drive a long term vision and technology roadmap for the database engine (new versions of MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • Production support: troubleshoot, report, and prioritize bugs on operational issues with the production data
  • Effective management of changes in the production database environment
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, development and product support teams to create SQL complex scripts, execution queries, run reports, and extract and migrate data upon request
  • Ensure adequate implementation of MS SQL backup, replication, load balancing and clustering
  • Monitor and tune SQL databases for efficiency and drive improvements
  • Diagnose OS, network and storage issues
  • Coordinate with IT and developers on new product releases
  • Responsible for database support of all production and staging environments, including release activities
  • Tune hardware and software settings
  • Work with IT to manage hardware resources
  • Create tools and processes to automate MS SQL administration and monitoring
  • Create SQL best practices documentation and work with teams to help them understand how SQL may fit into their applications

Director of Product Marketing

Location: San Francisco, CA - HQ

Description:

The Director of Product marketing will lead a small team within the marketing organization and will be focused on articulating and amplifying Certain’s value proposition to event and marketing decision makers. The role will develop and execute strategies and tactics to assist the company in devising market messages and positioning that will cut through, as well as developing a range of sales tools that will assist the global sales organization in precision targeting and action. The right candidate will be a go-to resource for the entire company on competitive and market intelligence, as well as a font of info on our current and prospective customers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define the go-to-market strategy and marketing plan necessary to meet corporate goals
  • Provide product-level positioning and marketing messaging to be used by sales and marketing
  • Identify target customer roles and segments and develop compelling value propositions to meet the needs of each segment
  • Conduct pricing research to inform product price point decisions
  • Plan for and manage feature and product launches, including all marketing deliverables
  • Work with sales to define target customers and provide consultative support to acquisition and customer marketing campaign development
  • Develop appropriate sales and partner training materials, collateral, pricing guides as needed
  • Support demand gen activities including webinars, trade shows, direct marketing, collateral and customer success stories
  • Develop and run product merchandising, pricing and messaging tests to increase conversion
  • Create market requirement documents (MRD)

Interactive Design Marketing Manager

Description:

The Interactive Design marketing Manager will be an experienced interactive / user experience designer to work as a part of the demand gen marketing team on a range of creative projects including mass email marketing, web design, web application design, advertising and print production.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with marketing team as lead developer in interactive project planning and execution
  • Work with a cross-functional team to design world-class user experience by translating varying requirements into engaging concepts and interaction models
  • Define user task flows and concept layouts that enhance usability, optimize the user experience and promote engagement with specialty program and interactive sites
  • Lead the design and A/B testing variations of multiple email marketing & advertising campaigns to optimize usability and results

Product Support Specialist

Description:

In becoming an economically viable and successful SaaS business, Certain has put a priority on creating an efficient customer support organization called Customer Care. This organization consolidates and leverages the best practices of onboarding, advisory services, and technical product support. This support position is responsible for handling incoming and outgoing service related calls (both phone and web support). This role is a solution based position focused on problem solving software related issues. This position requires strong verbal communication skills and consultative customer focus with an emphasis on responsiveness.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide answers to problems based on software product and process knowledge
  • Develop materials and deliver online training as required for new users
  • Work closely with the product development team to identify defects and provide resolutions for client’s issues
  • Assist with testing strategies, conditions and evaluation of expected results
  • Document information specific to issue resolution and escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate area
